Wow, feels like forever since I've been on xanga!  Glad to see there's still a community here.

One of the bosses at my workplace was wondering if there were any "church kids" (although I told him most of you are now in university) who would be willing to help them pack their stuff into boxes as they have two kids, and not enough time to do all this stuff before they move.  If you're interested, just email me at fundaisies@yahoo.ca, and I'll send you info.  It'll start at $10/hr.

It's funny - the people at work always remember the people from ACT fellowship, and remember them fondly and as people to be trusted!

anyhow, let me know!

it's amazing.

opening up gifts and cards from family and friends, i stumbled upon the card that my wonderful childhood friend scraggle had written.  and in it, for fun, she had included a list.

this list was the "when i'll know" list that i put together years ago to help me keep my heart guarded and to help me focus on not only what i wanted in a future spouse, but also what i wanted to strive after myself.  the list was put together after much prayerful consideration and much time spent in the bible, applying characteristics that made a man or woman righteous and good in God's sight.  it was a long list...23 items long, some incredibly specific to me and what i had found suited who i was, others quite general and broad.  and even when i put it together, aside from a few key items i would not compromise on, i told myself that i would have to accept that not every item would be fulfilled.

i used to show my list to a handful of my close friends to encourage them to aim high and not just settle for any breathing creature.  whenever i felt some shimmer of attraction to any boy that threatened to distract me from being focused on enjoying and doing the most with my singlehood for God, i would use that list to help me regain focus.

and in recent years, i had put that list aside.  after ups and downs in relationships, heartaches, pain, defeat, guilt, and a serious shaking of my generally optimistic and naive outlook, along with people with kind intentions telling me that i was being unrealistic and expecting too much, i slowly started to have my doubts about whether that list really was something that God wanted me to hope for.  so i tucked it away in a dark corner and tried to let go and not expect much.

those who have talked in depth with jer or myself know that i was really really resistant to anything starting at first.  and when people ask me how i knew jer was the one, i tell them that it's because i fought so hard against it, yet God in His funny sense of humour still brought us together.

and now, despite already feeling incredibly happy and blessed at having "scored" such a wonderful husband and "getting the better end of the deal" as SmileyCT says ...

it wasn't until i opened that card from scraggle and received that reminder from the past that i realized just how faithful God had been.  even though for the past several years i have stopped praying as specifically as i had before for a godly husband of those exacting standards, God came through.

i finally understand God's will and working in this area of my life, and am yet reaffirmed in my faith of God's overwhelming goodness to us and his commitment to answering our prayers, especially the ones that are rooted in a genuine seeking of His will.

in my husband of 24 days, God fulfilled every single item of that 23-item list.

thank you Lord.

"Crazy Alicia... I think she's more weird than you!!"

to my dear cousin alicia:

the above statement is from one of your peers, the first thing out of their mouth after reading your comment on my last post.  and no, it is not driz, or me or anyone else related to you .  hahahahaha.

in regards to your embarassment with me and drisanna, haha, i think ducky and gnomes were entertained.  they were just tired and hungry and craving ice cream floats, and they didn't know us as well as they know you...otherwise i'm sure they would have joined in.
